Experienced team takes properties to the next level

The most-asked question the team at Mike’s Landscaping gets is, “Why do the deer keep eating all my plants?”

The answer is likely because your garden is a smorgasbord of deer treats. But there could be a very simple solution.

“Where deer are a problem, interplanting can make a big difference. Lavender or catmint, for example, can deter wildlife,” says Brooklyn Radtke, who, along with dad Mike Welsh and brother Dylan Welsh, owns and operates Mike’s Landscaping.

There are other attractive options that also double as wildlife deterrents. Choosing which to use should be based on the garden’s aesthetic and the homeowner’s personal preference.

Mike’s provides high-end luxury garden design, as well as customized installation and maintenance services for gardens, planters, and landscapes. They are a family business with longtime employees who treat each project like a natural palette and canvas, while also providing personalized attention and care.

The entire team takes note of the likes and dislikes of their clients to ensure that each garden and landscape is perfect for the property owner.

“It’s a family culture… everyone puts in a bit extra and a keener eye, looking after their clients’ properties even better than they would their own,” says Mike, who started the business 24 years ago. “For instance, staff will be in the office and thinking about how to make a property a little bit better: what can be added or removed to take their landscaping to the next level.”

For example, if a client loves Shasta daisies, they might suggest companions like campanula or liatris that look great with the daisies, and maybe some early spring blooms that fade just as the daisies are coming into bloom.

“We’ll offer suggestions you may not have thought of so that your property is looking the best it can look,” says Megan Verhey, landscape designer for Mike’s Landscaping.

From shrubbery to perennials and everything in between, they have the skills, experience, and top-notch tools to do the job right.

Brooklyn adds: “We offer sustainable options to enhance plant longevity, so your beds don’t have to be replanted year-after-year.”

Whether working with a property manager or directly with the home or cottage owner, Mike’s Landscaping is renowned for removing the stress.

“Landscaping and gardening should be an enjoyable experience, not a stressful one,” says Mike. “Call us and we’ll make it easy for yo
