Medical Aesthetics Muskoka

Energy boost

The world of medical aesthetics has seen considerable evolution throughout the years.

With the positive changes there can be confusion on the types of treatments available, including the significant difference between blood plasma and plasma energy, says Dr. Kersti Kents, owner of Medical Aesthetics of Muskoka (MAOM).

Blood plasma is the portion of your blood containing growth factors which help stimulate natural healing and rejuvenation; it is used in platelet-rich plasma treatments.

On the other hand, plasma energy is a state of ionized gas that delivers focused heat to the skin for tightening and resurfacing – without cutting or needles.

“Plasma energy interacts with tissue in a controlled, precise way to stimulate collagen and improve skin structure,” explains Dr. Kents.

At MAOM, known as Muskoka’s Plasma Centre of Excellence, they use plasma energy treatments to get amazing results.

NeoGen plasma
NeoGen uses ultra-high radiofrequency to ionize medical-grade nitrogen gas, creating plasma energy to provide deep penetration by oxygen-free plasma pulses: causing immediate tissue contraction and initiating natural healing. Dermal structures are targeted while stimulating collagen and elastin. The preserved epidermis acts as a protective bandage for faster recovery.

Plexr Plus plasma
Plexr Plus uses atmospheric gas, which contains oxygen, for a variety of treatments, including the non-ablative Rockstar and Glass facials. Nano-channels are opened to allow for deep serum absorption, mimicking microneedling without needles or bleeding.

Comparisons
Plasma is often the better option when compared to other technologies. Plasma energy outperforms lasers because it treats the whole skin surface, is safe on all skin types, has faster healing times, and has a lower risk for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Unlike Morpheus8 radio frequency microneedling, NeoGen medium to high energy treatments are safe for delicate areas like the eyelids and can deliver impressive results in a single session without the use of needles or inserted devices.

“As well, we find non-surgical alternatives like Plexr blepharoplasty and NeoGen facelifts reduce risk, cost, and recovery time,” says Dr. Kents. “Our plasma treatments provide transformative, tailored results safely and effectively – often without the downtime or risks of traditional procedures.”
