It’s time to embrace the summer! Try something new and push your comfort zone at Muskoka’s premier water sports park.
Bush’s Watersports Park (BWP) in Bala is owned and operated by Ryan Bush and Steve Milgram. Ryan’s parents founded the business in 1979. “There are families who have been customers since the beginning,” says Ryan. “In some cases we’re teaching the fourth generation.”
BWP has everything you need for an unforgettable experience. There are boat lessons for waterskiing, wakeboarding and surfing, and a certified slalom course for slalom skiers. A cable park packed with rails and jumps lets riders challenge themselves. Wake Hui, a cable wakeboard summer day camp for kids and teens, offers customized lesson plans for each camper. Splash Island Muskoka is an inflatable obstacle course.
“All you need is a bathing suit and towel. We provide the rest,” says Steve.
Is your goal this summer to try something new and get behind a boat for the first time, or do you want to gain confidence and improve your skills? Do you want to add to your bag of tricks, or do you want to dust off that bad form to look cool in front of your kids? “No matter what you’re looking for, our world-class certified coaches and boat drivers can make it happen,” says Ryan.
Lessons are offered on BWP’s private lake. With no other boat traffic, there are no wakes or distractions, letting riders focus on learning and having fun. Or if you’d prefer, BWP will come to your cottage and offer private lessons off your dock.
For a boat-free experience, check out What Wake Park, which features two cables and plenty of rails and jumps. “Similar to a terrain park on a ski hill, the park offers different features to riders of all levels, from beginners to world class,” says What Wake Park’s Mickey Henry.
If the kids aren’t ready for fast flying cable fun or boat lessons, Splash Island Muskoka is a perfect alternative. This is an inflatable water park course offering everything from giant slides to monkey bars. Race your siblings or your dad: the challenges – and the fun – are endless.
For kids who want to really enhance their skills, Wake Hui is a unique cable park day camp unlike any other summer camp in Muskoka. “It’s perfect for kids or teens who are curious and eager to learn a different style,” says Nick Nags of Wake Hui. Cable riders thrive in a team setting, uplifting each other and forming a community whose passion is everything from standing sideways on the water to riding over jumps and rails.
BWP is perfect for birthday parties, family hangouts, corporate team building, bachelor/bachelorette or just your annual cottage get together.
“Summer is short. Make the most of it on the water,” says Ryan.
