Custom homes come with custom support

Building a custom home can be an exciting adventure, a chance to plan out every aspect of your future vision. One critical detail often gets overlooked, though: what happens after the home is complete?

Oh sure, you’ll select furniture and artwork, move in and begin living there. But what about after that?

Owning and maintaining a modern home isn’t just a matter of replacing the furnace filter every few months. A cuttingedge home can have dozens of hightech systems in place, controlling everything from the hot tub temperature to the time of day the blinds open. If any of them needs attention – or you want to change any of the settings – who do you call?

If your home was built by Prycon Custom Homes and Renovations, the answer is simple: you call them.

“Aftercare is a vital part of the service we offer, and has been for a long time,” says Matt Pryce. “It’s something we’ve been thinking about and developing for years.”

Matt and his brother Steve founded Prycon 31 years ago, building it from a small company to a construction powerhouse with more than 20 employees. Steve recently retired from the business, and while he is missed, the business continues with growth. “Steve and I began working on a succession plan years ago, recognizing that the day would come when others take over from us,”
says Matt.

Future planning
That same approach – working now for a predictable future – is at the heart of Prycon’s service department.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on our warranties and the relationships we build with our clients,” Matt says, noting that numerous clients have hired Prycon to build more than one home for them over the years. “We’ve always kept in touch with our clients, ensuring they’re happy in their homes and seeing if they need anything else.”

About 10 years ago, he adds, they could see that something more was needed. The homes they were building were increasingly complex, with miles of cabling and control systems being run through the walls. “We could walk our clients through operating these systems, but it was clearly getting to the point of being overwhelming for the average homeowner.”

That realization led to the creation of Prycon’s dedicated service department, overseen by longtime team member Kirk Adamson.

From the very start of each project, Kirk is part of the process, meeting clients well before the completion of their home. “I’m introduced early on,” says Kirk. “That way, by the time their home is finished, the relationship and trust are already there.”

Each homeowner works closely with their project manager during the build, and once the construction phase is complete, Kirk and his team seamlessly step in. Whether it’s a quick adjustment to a lighting schedule or a more technical issue involving a home automation system, Prycon’s service department ensures the transition from construction to occupancy feels effortless.

“We’ve built trust with our clients,” Kirk explains. “They know they can come directly to us, and we’ll take care of it. We have the people, the partners, and the experience to handle whatever a home may need.”

Ahead of the curve
This ongoing connection between builder and homeowner sets Prycon apart. Rather than moving on after the keys are handed over, they stay engaged, continuing to monitor and support the homes they create.

Sophisticated systems embedded throughout the house can often be accessed and adjusted remotely, saving clients time and disruption. “We can diagnose or even fix many issues while the homeowners are away, at work or on vacation,” Kirk says.

“And if a technician does need to come out, the clients can remotely allow entry and then confirm the work has been done to their satisfaction. Imagine the peace of mind, being in another country and getting a system alert: ‘Prycon service is here.’ It’s all part of making life easier for our clients.”

For Matt, this service-driven mindset is simply a natural extension of Prycon’s philosophy. “As the technology of homes changes and evolves, Prycon is keeping pace,” he says. “Building science never stands still, and neither do we.”

That adaptability gives clients not only convenience but confidence. They know that Prycon isn’t going anywhere – the same people who brought their home to life will be there for years to come, continuing to protect that investment. “It puts clients’ minds at ease,” Matt adds, “because they know we’re not going to leave them in the lurch.”

Ultimately, Prycon’s commitment to aftercare is about more than technology or troubleshooting. It reflects a deeper principle – a belief that custom homebuilding is a lifelong partnership. “We’re not just proud of the homes we build,” says Matt, “we’re proud of how we stand behind them.”
