NeoGen treatments take skin care to the next level

In the quest for better ways to treat skin conditions, plasma technology offers a revolutionary approach, with fast results and less recovery time than more conventional treatments.

“Plasma technology is a versatile and effective alternative to traditional forms of treatment,” explains Dr. Kersti Kents, owner of Medical Aesthetics of Muskoka. “It generates controlled and focused ionized gas for skin treatment, minimizing the risk of over-treatment and scarring.”

Dr. Kents’ clinic has recently begun offering NeoGen plasma treatments. This cutting-edge technology ionizes nitrogen gas to form plasma energy. This allows the plasma to penetrate deep into the skin and target underlying skin structure.

Unlike traditional electrical energy devices, certain lasers and surgery, the skin surface stays intact, which allows for faster healing after treatment.

“The depth of treatment stimulates the body to create new collagen, resulting in skin tightening and brightening, and smoothing out the appearance of the skin’s surface and texture,” explains Dr. Kents. “Results are not immediate, with improvement continuing for up to one year.”

Many skin conditions on the face and body can be treated with NeoGen. These include wrinkles and volume loss, loose and crepey skin, pigmented lesions, acne scars and active acne, melasma, enlarged pores, scars, stretch marks and more.

By adjusting the level of energy used during treatment, deeper layers into the skin can be reached. The NeoGen process results in changes at three main depths.

At more superficial treatment depths, the plasma energy works on the skin surface, causing the tissue to contract and create skin tightening.

At the next depth level, a resurfacing takes place: as the heat penetrates the skin, the epidermis creates a natural barrier to protect the skin from any infection. This helps reduce downtime. As healing occurs, a new epidermis grows, with a healthier look and feel.

At the deepest level, as deep as the reticular dermis, the treatment prompts skin regeneration as the disruption caused by the heat disturbs and stimulates the collagen, elastin and connective tissues, while also creating new blood vessels.

All treatment plans and recovery processes are personalized based on the care needed for the individual. Dr. Kents consults with each client to ensure that they are getting the best plan for their requirements.

“Various energy levels may be used during each treatment,” she says. “Higher levels of energy target deeper into the skin but require more time to recover. Lower levels of energy have less down time, and may be required for certain treatment locations or skin conditions.”

No matter what kind of treatment you need, NeoGen plasma treatments are a revolutionary new form of skin care that will have you looking and feeling your finest.
